ASSISTANT RESEARCHER POSITION in Structural Biology (Crystallography and/or NMR)
Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa
Applications are invited for an Assistant Researcher position in the area of Structural Biology, with contract duration up to 5 years, in the Associate Laboratory REQUIMTE (http://www.requimte.pt/), located at the campus of Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa (http://www.fct.unl.pt/).
The candidate should have a sound knowledge and experience in Protein Crystallography and/or NMR Spectroscopy and will be included in the lab research. He/she will be involved on an on-going drug design project for the study of the interaction of potential drugs with plasma proteins. The work will include preparation of protein-drug candidate complexes, structure determination and biological assays. Opportunity will also be given to carry out independent research in the field.
The successful candidate must have a PhD and previous research experience in structural biology using protein crystallography and/or NMR spectroscopy. Candidates should have a high quality research record and at least 3 years of post-doctoral research experience.
The project will also require research experience and skills in recombinant protein expression, purification, crystallization and small-ligand screening using protein crystallography, NMR and other biophysical methods.
The contract offered will have duration of up to 5 years, renewed yearly based on mutual agreement. The successful candidate will receive a salary in accordance with the University regulations for a senior researcher. The annual gross income, before taxes, will be approximately 3,100 Euros x 14 months.
Candidates should send a motivation letter, full CV (with list of
publications and description of research interests) and names and
addresses (email and phone) of three referees in electronic form to
Prof. Maria João Romão (mromao@dq.fct.unl.pt) (http://xtal.dq.fct.unl.pt/ ).
Closing date for applications: 15 September 2008.
