| Interaction to support the operation of the MX beamlines located at the

| BESSY II storage ring (headed by Dr. Uwe Müller, BESSY/HZB) and to

| conduct research at the MDC under the guidance of Dr. Manfred S. Weiss
| |
| (BESSY/HZB) and Prof. Dr. Udo Heinemann (MDC). BESSY/HZB collaborates
| |
| with the MDC in Berlin-Buch in operating three state-of-the-art
| |
| experimental stations for bio-macromolecular crystallography at one of
| |
| the world’s most modern synchrotron radiation sources for VUV and soft
| |
| X-rays.

| The successful candidate will support MX beamline users in data

| collection and analysis, participate in the development, implementation
| |
| and commissioning of MX beamline instrumentation, and pursue his/her own
| |
| research in the fields of Macromolecular Structure and Interaction.

| ===Requirements:===

| Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in either biological, chemical or physical
| |
| sciences and have a strong background in all aspects of
| |
| bio-macromolecular crystallography, in particular in the use of the
| |
| relevant computer programs. The position also requires the documented
| |
| ability to conduct independent research as well as excellent
| |
| communication and interpersonal skills.

| The salary will be based on German Federal TVÖD E13.
