The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of California, Santa Cruz invites applications from outstanding candidates for a '''tenure-track Assistant Professor position''' in the broad area of experimental biomedical research, such as biochemistry, biophysics, bioanalytical chemistry, structural biology, enzymology, synthetic biology/metabolic engineering, computational biology, metallobiochemistry and proteomics. Areas of research complementing our existing strengths in protein and nucleic acid structure/function, enzyme activity and design, mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases, oncogenesis and other pathologies, and macromolecular spectroscopic analyses are particularly encouraged. The successful candidate will be expected to have a commitment to, and talent for, teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The campus is especially interested in candidates who will have interdisciplinary interactions with the Department of Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology, the Department of Microbiology and Environmental Toxicology, or the Department of Biomolecular Engineering, and who will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service.
