We strongly recommend that you test your online exam for functionality once you have completed your preparations. This will ensure that all questions are set correctly and will be evaluated according to your specifications.
We recommend two ways to test this:
A) Testing with participants in a trial exam
A trial exam
- gives participants the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the online exam process.
- gives you the opportunity to check whether the automated scoring of questions meets your expectations.
- Organize a trial exam XXXXXXXX
- Add at least one question of each type used to your trial exam.
- After this trial, check your exam XXXXXXX to see if the automatic scoring meets your expectations. If not, you can still adjust the settings in your main exam.
B) Testing the (main) exam with your own account and administrator access rights
1. Preparation
- Exam course (main page) must not be set to online
- Open your test and switch it to online mode in the “Settings” tab (and adjust the time settings for "Availability" and "Administering the Test: Access" for your respective date and time of trial if necessary).
2. Implementation
- Click on “Start test” in the “Info” tab of the test.
- check the individual questions for errors in content
- Answer at least one question of each question type used as an example (deliberately include errors to test the evaluation settings)
3. Evaluation
- Correct any errors found in the content of the individual questions
- In the “Results” tab, check the questions you answered to see if the automatic scoring meets your expectations.
- Check whether the automatically generated grade based on the total number of points achieved and the set grade levels meet your expectations.
4. Adjusting questions
- Delete all test data collected so far to enable editing of questions
- Adjust questions, items, and scoring where necessary
- Retest with modifications (see “2. Implementation”)
5. Final settings
- In the “Results” tab, remove the “test data” generated during your testing by clicking on “Delete Test Data of all Participants.”
- in order to enable further editing or correction of questions
- in order to be free of test results at the start of the exam
- In the “Settings” tab, adjust the time settings for "Availability" and "Administering the Test: Access" back to the examination time (if previously changed for testing purposes).
