===Adventure===
Mostly story driven Single-Player-Games. The Player has to advance through levels by completing quests or solving puzzles. The Adventure Genre was one of the first Genres in Computergames, starting with the Subgenre "Text-Adventure".

===Beat 'em up===

===FPS (First Person Shooter)===
Main aspect is the camera position. The game is played in "First Person", through the eyes of the protagonist. Further, it includes elements of an Action-Game.

===MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online)===
MMOs have a strong focus on the Multiplayer Interaction between players. It combines Elements from other Genres, therefore it can be a FPS and RPG at the same time. The difference lies in a shared world, and the connection over LAN or the Internet.

===[[Role-Playing Game|RPG]] (Role Playing Game)===
RPGs are story driven games inviting the player to become an important person, mostly "the hero", inside the evolving story.

===[[Simulation in Games|Simulation]]===
Simulation games let the player experience real life vehicles in a digital environment. The player can drive cars or tanks, fly planes or fighter jets. Depending on the contents it can therefore be a war or a sport game, or something else.

===Sport Games===
Includes all types of real life sports. Successful franchises are usually linked to the most popular sports, for example football games.

===Strategy Video Games===

These games are defined as players compete in real time simultaneously. Most of the RTS games involve Base-Building, Army-Building and strategical fighting elements and are played against the computer or a real person.

MOBA is a subgenre of video strategy games an emerged out of RTS Genre.
