*Rules/Policy for changing existing wiki-articles (how much and what are new users allowed to change)
*Entry point for new users (how do we deal with new users, how do they know how to write and what to write in an article -> guidelines are not the answer to this problem. a tutorial video could solve this)
*How do we deal with users who are not studying LKM. A user that studies biology for example has no idea what and how to write a wiki article about our research approaches. flora and fauna in video games could be interesting but do we need/want this kind of information in the wiki.
*Quality of the content. I know from my experience that I don't really care about the quality of my work when I just do it for 3 credits. OK I don't really care about it anyway but with just 3 credits it's even worse. How do we deal with the fluctuation of quality in wiki articles?
*should we lock certain articles? Is there a moment when we can say that an article is complete and should not be changed in the future?
*How do we deal with brain drain? Existing users have a lot of knowledge about the wiki. What do we do if we lose these users (end of their studies, other interests)? From a technical perspective: How do we teach new users to fix things in the user-interface. How do we transfer or keep this knowledge?
*How do we keep this wiki interesting? It should be entertaining to use and create the wiki otherwise it will die. Doing it for the credits alone is not enough to generate a substantial userbase.

Problems and discussion points

  • Rules/Policy for changing existing wiki-articles (how much and what are new users allowed to change)
  • Entry point for new users (how do we deal with new users, how do they know how to write and what to write in an article -> guidelines are not the answer to this problem. a tutorial video could solve this)
  • How do we deal with users who are not studying LKM. A user that studies biology for example has no idea what and how to write a wiki article about our research approaches. flora and fauna in video games could be interesting but do we need/want this kind of information in the wiki.
  • Quality of the content. I know from my experience that I don't really care about the quality of my work when I just do it for 3 credits. OK I don't really care about it anyway but with just 3 credits it's even worse. How do we deal with the fluctuation of quality in wiki articles?
  • should we lock certain articles? Is there a moment when we can say that an article is complete and should not be changed in the future?
  • How do we deal with brain drain? Existing users have a lot of knowledge about the wiki. What do we do if we lose these users (end of their studies, other interests)? From a technical perspective: How do we teach new users to fix things in the user-interface. How do we transfer or keep this knowledge?
  • How do we keep this wiki interesting? It should be entertaining to use and create the wiki otherwise it will die. Doing it for the credits alone is not enough to generate a substantial userbase.
