In late 2018, Blizzard announced Diablo Immortal, a mobile successor to their long running Diablo series. This created a huge stir in their fanbase, with an unprecedented ammount of open backlash from fans and Press alike. Many saw the move to a mobile plattform as a move to please the more lucrative Casual playerbase, particularly rooted in China, and away from their long-time fanbase on PC.
