Gender Performance is a term that was defined by Judith Butler in her text Gender is Burning. [1] The text deals with the topic of performance, which produces the concept of gender. Gender is therefore a certain kind of performance by an individual and not something that is given by birth. It is a learned behavior that is measured by its "realness".[2]
