Supported detectors

XDS accepts rectangular rotation images that are characterized by the number of "fast" (NX=) and "slow" (NY=) pixels and their sizes (mm units) QX= and QY=, respectively. Each pixel codes for a value proportional to the number of X-ray quanta reaching the pixel. The maximum value of this proportional range is specified by the input parameter OVERLOAD=. Often, a detector can be used with different parameter settings.

The exact layout of the image files and the pixel coding schemes are different for each detector; the possible formats are named in XDS by the keywords CBF SMV RAXIS TIFF MAR345 MAR CCP4 STOE HARVARD BRUKER. It is not necessary to specify a format keyword as XDS automatically recognizes most image formats currently in use and retrieves the basic detector parameters mentioned above directly from the header of the image files.

A list of the detectors supported by XDS and their possible parameter combinations is given below. The specified image format refers to the image file layout as generated by the manufacturer's software. It is strongly recommended to use the appropriate input template for XDS.INP as it also provides an example of a geometrical specifications for a typical data acquisition with this specific detector.
