Um den Begriff des Genres genauer zu definieren hilft vielleicht eine Liste der im wiki vorkommenden Genres per hyperlink an die Genre Seite anzubinden. Zu jedem Genre könnte man dann mit wenigen Worten die zentralen Aspekte des jeweiligen Genres definieren. Bei erstmaligen Erwähnung eines neuen Genres könnte der jeweilige Autor dann ohne großen Mehraufwand das Genre in die Liste einfügen. Dies schließt auch eine ausführlichere dedizierte Seite für ein Genre nicht aus.

Adventure
Mostly story driven Single-Player-Games. The Player has to advance through levels by completing quests or solving puzzles. The Adventure Genre was one of the first Genres in Computergames, starting with the Subgenre "Text-Adventure".
Beat 'em up
FPS ( First Person Shooter )
Main aspect is the camera position. The game is played in "First Person", through the eyes of the protagonist. Further, it includes elements of an Action-Game.
MMO ( Massively Multiplayer Online )
MMOs have a strong focus on the Multiplayer Interaction between players. It combines Elements from other Genres, therefore it can be a FPS and RPG at the same time. The difference lies in a shared world, and the connection over LAN or the Internet.
RPG ( Role Playing Game )
RPGs are story driven games inviting the player to become an important person, mostly "the hero", inside the evolving story.
Simulation
Sport Games
Includes all types of real life sports. Successful franchises are usually linked to the most popular sports, for example football games.
RTS ( Real Time Strategy )
These games are played in real time, the main difference to other strategy games ( for example turn based games ). Most of the RTS games involve Base-Building, Army-Building and strategical fighting elements and are played against the computer or a real person.
